2022 Project Round-up – My Yearly Assemblage!
Although I don’t do it well in every part of my life – taking a look back and reviewing some of my favorite projects of the year has become a pretty regular part of my Mad Paper Crush journey.
I always have such a good time going back over projects I’ve done in the year – and believe it or not, I’m still sometimes surprised by projects I may have forgotten (you know, I forgot to remember them or something like that 😂).
Either way, it’s good medicine to take a look back and see what you’ve accomplished – since I know I often wondering if I get anything done.
I try to pick out 10 projects that I enjoyed – or that I got some great feedback from you about, and I actually found more than 10 for this 2 part series! This is part one – I’ll come back soon with a part 2, which’ll have even more projects that I hope will inspire you! If you want to watch the video where I talk about each one – just scroll down to the bottom of this post.
- Project 1 – Magnifying bookmark
Inspired by my declining eyesight (!!), I made these fun bookmarks which double as a magnifying glass for those hard to read fonts. - Project 2 – (Almost completely) Recycled Junk Journal
I have seen many people do this type of project, and thought it would be fun to make a true “junk” journal. I used as many recycled items as I could – including old greeting cards, shopping bags and recycled fabric from curtains and pillows! This one was a challenge, but fun, and I was so happy with the result! - Project 3 – Book Page Mushrooms
I don’t know about you, but I have a TON of old book pages lying around from books I’ve taken apart to use in one project or another. This project was a great way to use up some of those pages I have lying around – and it make some great fodder for creating other ephemera – including tags, notecards or collage! - Project 4 – DIY Paper Buttons (with a freebie!)
Of all the “collections” I seem to have stashed about in my studio, buttons aren’t one of them. So I decided to make by own buttons from paper – and created a fun technique that makes them look really realistic! And because I was making buttons, I needed something to put them on – so created a digital freebie for you, a set of vintage style button cards to put your buttons on. I loved this project because you can create buttons to match any color or theme – and they are flat enough to easily put into a journal. - Project 5 – Five Things You Can Make from a Digital Kit
Not everyone has access to all kinds of vintage ephemera – so being able to make your own is often a fun option. And if you have some printables – you’ve got lots of options to make some new and creative ephemera of your own. This video will help you think outside the box when using your digital kits! - Bonus! – Dos-A-Dos Journal
This bonus project was so much fun to put together. It’s not a quick project, but it came together pretty easily and I love it because it’s not a normal journal! It opens from both sides – and you could use this for notes or even travel journal – with places to stash bits you find on your adventures.
