Art Discovery Tuesday – Floral Symbology
Have you ever heard of cigarette cards? I never did. But as I’ve been doing some searching for awesome vintage images, I came across cigarette cards. After a little research, I found that they were first developed as a marketing gimmick, to get people to buy more cigarettes. Now the originals are quite collectible.
This grouping of digitized cards I found have flowers with an attribute assigned to them, and I love them. Magnolia is Magnificence and China-Aster is Versatility. Aren’t they great?
To download them, click on the image to open it full size and then right click and choose Save Image As, Save Picture As or Download Linked File (depending on your browser!).
I’ve also put together a collection of these in my Etsy store, here, if you are interested in more!
Come back next week to see what I’ve discovered. Sign up for my newsletter and be notified in your inbox when I’ve posted new discoveries.
