How to do a Pamphlet Stitch

If you are like me, when you first start making journals, you want to learn aaaallllll the ways to bind your signatures. And in doing so, you realize {like I did!} that sometimes you just need to pick what works best for you. Or best for the project you are doing. And go with it.

Enter: the Pamphlet Stitch.

There are many different versions of this stitch for book binding, but I always find myself coming back to the 3-hole or 5-hole pamphlet stitch. They hold my pages in place very well, and I can use the 3-hole for a small journal and the 5-hole for a regular size journal.

But if you’ve never really done the stich before, it can be confusing.

  • What hole do I start in?
  • How do I keep my pages from shifting?
  • What tools do I need?
  • What’s the pattern?

Well, I got you covered! I’m doing a detailed video on how to do the pamphlet stitch – both of the versions I use the most, and then I’ll even show you how to take the pattern and expand it to any odd numbered hole template you’d like!

Check out my video below to see how it’s done!
